Museum Kloster Bentlage

The museum in the east wing of Kloster Bentlage unites two fascinating collections under one roof. The exhibition on the history of monastery contains artworks that have been at this location for over 500 years – including the two late-medieval „Gardens of Relics“: Relics’ – two artistically embellished altars that are unique in Europe today. The “Westfälische Galerie” (Westphalian Gallery) displays modern art. Works from the collection of the LWL Museum für Kunst und Kultur show the development from outdoor painting to abstract art. Featured artists include Otto Modersohn, Wilhelm Morgner, August Macke and Josef Albers.
